A .CSV (comma-separated values) files is a spreadsheet file that can be used to import information into your delivery system. This is most commonly used in the Compensation area, but can be used for other data as well.

CSV files house lots of detail and data, however keeping the data in the correct format is important and sometimes hard to do. When using the CSV file you can come across an error when uploading. This generally happens when you save the file and the data is not in the correct format.

Here are some tips to use when working with CSV files:

1. Save your work as an excel file first, that way if you need to make any adjustments you can open the excel file to make your changes.

2. Once you save the CSV file you do not want to open it back up. If you open the CSV file up there is a chance that you will lose information. Columns that have a leading 0 will lose that 0 if you open the file up.

3. If you receive an error in uploading your file you should open the excel file to see what the issue could be. Once you find the error save the excel file again and then also resave the CSV file and retry. This will save all the changes without changing the format from opening the CSV file.
